Upper Historical Society May 12th Program - Preservation of
Gravestones of Revolutionary War Soldiers
The next monthly meeting of the Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 6 pm, at the Upper Twp. Senior Center, 1369 Stagecoach Road, Ocean View. Upper Twp. resident Barbi Harris will present a program on the “Preservation of Gravestones of Revolutionary War Soldiers.” She has extensive knowledge of local history and genealogy and is also experienced with cleaning old gravestones. She is especially interested in very early Colonial and Revolutionary War-Era soldiers’ stones. Barbi will share her tips about what she has found successful on maintaining gravestones. She is a Trustee for Head of River Church and Cemetery, a member of Seaville Quaker Meeting, and has cleaned gravestones at each location as well as other cemeteries. She is also an active member of the General Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In conjunction with the observance of America’s 250th Anniversary, the HPSUT will begin the meeting with a 5-minutes talk honoring one local Revolutionary soldier.
